Thera 75 V2
Sooo many 75% keyboards. I already have a few 75-80% keyboards and now I have this to add to the pile of things my wife submits to "my strange addictions". With the Smith and Rune Magnus, Zoom TKL, Singa Jaguar V2, and Ripple TKL by Upas just around the corner and my first Sonnet arriving later this week, you might wonder why I picked up the Thera V2 and the answer is simple...the ship knob. I saw it and thought "that looks so dumb, I need it." And here we are.
I have said it before and I will say it again, once you have a knob on your keyboard and use it, it is so hard to live without. It seems so dumb as I will just put volume up/down on the second layer of my page up/down keys on any board without it but it just seems so much more convenient when you are changing volume by more than a few notches. For my use case I am typically listening to youtube videos at work and the volume can chage drastically between videos I watch. Every 5-10 mins a new video starts and I will usually slightly adjust the volume, this is where a know shines. You need a notch or too? Small turn. You have a youtuber who seems to be soft spoken and talking 10 ft from their mic? Big turn.
Now I know a knob is not unique to this board and the design is pretty boring. What made me take a chance on this was the price point. I wanted to see if this would be a better value than the GMMK Pro or the Drop Sense boards I have tried.
Short answer, Yes.
Long Answer, This board is much easier to get sounding the way you want then many boards at the same price. I still think its a bit lighter than I prefer and the weight on the back as good as it looks doesnt really add much weight. They include foam for days and with using the included foam and a tape mod this board is marbley AF. I know there is always an argument between clack vs thock but thock is better.
As for the build this one was pretty straight forward screwing the plate to the top and then mounting the PCB with the included sock gaskets. The only thing that bothered me building this board was the use of ribbon cables. I know they are getting more common and they are most likely a better adapter but I have fat fingers and its always a pain.
If you have been looking for a TKL keyboard and had been thinking of the GMMK Pro I think this is an easy pick over it.
