TGR Tomo

I like many discovered the TGR Tomo while wishing I had been picked for a Jane V2. I think in many ways the Tomo is the poor mans Jane and after a few weeks using it daily I think that might not be a bad thing.

75% keyboards seem to be blowing up right now with popular boards like the Mammoth 75, Jane V2 and the Epoch Jelly blowing up keyboard enthusiast Instagram accounts. I like many have jumped on the bandwagon professing my love for a TKL (ten keyless) board. Now with so many options from so many well know and respected makers what made me go with a Tomo? There are a few things that led me to a Tomo: First the Jane V2 is a lottery system to win the chance to buy and RNG hates me. Second the Tomo was in stock after losing yet another Jane raffle and 3 I like TGR, they make very clean boards.

Now something I have come to love about my Tomo is the compressed layout of the 75%. The Jane uses an exploded layout giving you a bit more space to stretch your fingers but I find the board quite comfortable to use.

The Tomo also sports a circular badge that can easily be swapped out with a few included badges, How ever I would have liked the option to swap this for a knob. I know every board seems to be adding a knob these days and I would argue that is because once you have seen the light why would you go back to the darkness.

I built my Tomo with the Pom plate, no foam, azure dragon switches lubed with krytox 205G0 and screw in Durok V2 stabilizers. For the Keycaps I used GMK ColorChrome. I really enjoy how this board turned out. I feel like you can make any board sound the way you want with enough time spent modding but this one got where I wanted it almost on its own.

Are there cheaper 75% boards that arguably give you more for the money? Yes, the Zoom TKL, Qwertykeys QK75, and the Keychron Q2 to name a few. But this board has scratched the TGR 75% itch for me and for that I think it is worth it.
